Attention all Members! As of now Blizzard is offering a new Security Key Dongle. This device is based on RSA Security Keys which a very super secure device whose passcodes change every 60 seconds using sophisticated algorithms. This added layer of security will protect you to a very secure point. This is something that has been used for years even by banks for their customers and even if it is cracked the passcodes only last 60 seconds.
For a mere $6.50 I highly recommend everyone make the small investment for this device to secure their WoW accounts especially since we have had so many people recently hacked.

i ordered one yesterday,
i'll let you know how it works and how much i think its worth it.
realistically, use a password for WoW that you use no where else, and make it complex and change it regularly. and tripple check that when you log into worldofwarcraft.com for anything that its a secure connection to them and not anyone else.
but this is a good policy for any mission critical information (banks, credit cards, WoW. really anything with significant money/time invested in) |

Well I ordered one when it first came out. The nice thing is the password is practically a one use only password because it changes so quickly. It also asks you for your key before you log into even the website. THis is the same kind of security used by corporations though its technically not a RSA key system its using the Digipass Go 6 system which is just as secure. So what happens is you log in to WoW with your normal user name and password and then it asks you for your key code which you produce by taking the fob and hitting a button. It produces a password for you to use at that time (It should change every few minutes)
It only produces a password when you push the button and the server based on the serial code you enter when you attach it to your account uses a complex algorithm to match it up with the key on the fob. Supposedly only one account was hacked with this system on it in WoW but the circumastances are most unusal and BLizzard says it was not the keys fault which given there was only supposedly one report I tend to believe. Also the same system is used to protect bank accounts for customers so if they could hack it why would they bother to hack WoW when they could have access to millions of real dollars.
Of course all of Knasis's info is important and should be followed by everyone. I used to have a post liek that in the old forums I should copy and paste it over here.
In the government department I work in our security passwords are changed every 30 days and are required to consist capital and lower case letters and numbers and symbols and must be at least 8 character long. |

| When I was a teller at the bank, we had a 5-digit password that changed every 30 days. Man, I started running out of numbers sequences I'd remember! |

| Just as a reminder the key fobs are in stock and I highly encourage everyone to pick on up. Its very simple to use and adds a ton of security to your account. Just remember to bring it with you if you are planning on playing somewhere else :-p |
